Ecology and Phytosociology

The field maple grows in Europe and Western Asia, throughout coppices in plains and hills. A relatively slow-growing tree, quite demanding of soil conditions, it produces a hard, homogeneous wood. This maple is valued in coppices because of its hardiness and soil-retaining properties.
