Ecology and phytosociology
The pine’s main feature is its ability to form raw humus and regenerate degraded soil (this is especially true of the Pinus Sylvestris). It has low requirements in terms of the nutrient content of the soil and is unaffected by its mineral content, making it an easy-growing species. However, by shedding its acidic pine needles, it causes other species to become sterile.
