The wayfaring tree is a small shrub with highly flexible, greyish hairy twigs and deciduous buds with two small scales. The bark provides glue and has greyish, hairy, pleated leaves with finely toothed edges. It lives mostly in hedges and on the hills of the calcareous oak-ash stands
